Gregory Wright creates time-marked vistas with cosmic, microscopic, and geologic suggestions in his relief paintings. The work falls somewhere between the 2 dimensional and 3 dimensional, incorporating texture and material as an integral part of the message. Gregory’s choices of media include acrylic-based textural preparations and paints, hand made papers and fibrous materials, pigmented beeswax, powdered and micaceous pigments and many other unlikely additives. The elemental quality of wood lends itself as a perfect substrate to constructions.

Gregory's artistic journey was launched early in his youth with the discovery of ceramic art. He spent his young adult life investigating every artistic avenue, enhancing his creative abilities by handcrafting with clay and painting. He was drawn to the organic shapes and structures of nature. His attraction to the organic and to the dimensional has had a huge impact on his painting from the beginning.

At present, Gregory is developing his body of work, BOUND. He is exploring every iteration possible, as well as seeking creative and new exhibition possibilities. Gregory's work has been exhibited in the Boston area, as well as nationally. Gregory has had many solo exhibitions, many of which have been at Galatea Fine Art in Boston's South End, where he had been a member for several years. Gregory has also been in a number of curated multi-artist shows throughout the Northeast.

Gregory curated Pollination:Beyond The Garden, a thematic group exhibition of artists working in encaustic, in Lowell and Provincetown, Mass. This was made possible with a grant from the Massachusetts Cultural Council.

Gregory’s expertise and innovative approaches to working with encaustic and mixed media have given him the opportunity to present, demonstrate and teach for several years at the International Encaustic Conference in Provincetown, Mass.  Gregory has also taught many encaustic painting workshops at Castle Hill Center for the Arts in Truro, Mass. Gregory has also been a visiting artist at different locations, as well as a featured artist in various publications.
